Pizza Pasta Ingredients
- 1 pound (450g) penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 pound (450g) ground sausage or beef
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 24-ounce (680g) jar of your favorite marinara sauce
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
- Pepperoni slices (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the Instant Pot: Once the Instant Pot is turned on, choose the “Sauté” setting. After adding the olive oil, let it get heated.
- Saute the vegetables: Add chopped onions, chopped garlic, chilies, and chopped mushrooms to the Instant Pot. Fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
- Cook Meat: Add the ground sausage or beef to the Pot. Instant Break it up with a spoon and cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes.
- Season and Combine: Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper over the meat and vegetables. Stir well to combine.
- Add Sauce and Pasta: Add the marinara sauce and water, making sure everything is mixed evenly. Add the pan pasta to the instant pot and cover completely with the sauce.

Pressure Cook:
Close the Instant Pot lid and set the valve to the sealing position. Cancel the “Sauté” function and select the “Manual” or “Pressure Cook” setting. Cook on high pressure for 5 minutes.
- Release Pressure: Once the cooking time is complete, allow for a quick pressure release by carefully turning the valve to the venting position.
- Add Cheese and Toppings: Open the Instant Pot lid and stir the pasta. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese. If desired, add the sliced black olives and pepperoni slices on top of the cheese.
